French or hamburger hinges, available in two sizes, are suitable for a variety of interior wood doors. For example, consider a wooden cabinet door of a classic piece of furniture. Assembly is easy, as the two parts can be mounted separately, but the main advantage of a hinge is that the door can be easily lifted in and out of the frame, ideal for maintenance work.
Hinges, unlike hinges, are not reversible. You always fix the leaf with the pin in the frame and therefore need to determine beforehand which direction of rotation you need: left or right turning, either DIN left or DIN right. The easiest way to find out whether you need a left-hand or right-hand hinge is to stand on the side of the door where you can see the hinge with the door closed. The door will then always turn toward you. Is the hinge on the right? Then you are dealing with DIN right. Is the hinge on the left? Then you choose a left-handed hinge, or: DIN left.
